Our History
VectorStackBase was founded in 2018 by Haruto Miyazaki and Akiko Fujimoto in Kyoto, Japan, inspired by their shared frustration with the overwhelming and often impersonal experience of choosing tea online. The company launched its first quiz prototype at a local tea festival in Uji, receiving overwhelmingly positive feedback from both consumers and estate owners. By 2020, the platform had expanded to include over 200 tea varieties and established partnerships with estates across Japan and East Asia. In 2022, VectorStackBase secured Series A funding and launched its subscription curation service, growing its user base to over 150,000 within the first year. Today, the company employs a dedicated team of 45 professionals spanning technology, tea expertise, design, and customer experience.

Akiko is a certified Japanese Tea Advisor with over 15 years of experience working with tea estates in Uji, Kagoshima, and Shizuoka. She oversees all tea sourcing, tasting panel operations, and quality standards across the platform.
Kenji Watanabe
Chief Technology Officer
